Free Wills Month April 2019 in Aid of St Ciaran’s Peregrini
At PA Duffy and Company we are always advising our clients of the importance of making a will. Unfortunately, many people delay this important process and, in doing so, fail to make provision for their family and loved ones. Around 60% of adults in the UK have not made a will. Without a will you are leaving yourself and your family open to many problems. For example, an unmarried partner will not automatically be entitled to your estate and may well receive nothing.
Children may also be at risk of being disinherited if a proper will is not in place. To counteract some of these issues and raise awareness of the importance of making a will we have decided to run a free wills month in April 2019 with all proceeds going toward our charity of choice; St Ciaran’s Peregrini. St Ciaran’s Peregrini is a charity based in St Ciaran’s College in Ballygawley in aid of an ongoing project in Mulenga, Zambia. The charity was founded in 2009 and works in conjunction with Father PJ Gormley SMA to improve the lives of those living in poverty.
Since its inception St Ciaran’s Peregrini has helped to fund the building of a pre-school, a church and a youth retreat centre in the town of Mulenga. At Easter this year 20 volunteers from St Ciaran’s College Ballygawley will travel to Zambia to help with ongoing projects and we would encourage you to support them in any way you can.
For the entire month of April all proceeds of our Free Will’s Month will be going toward St Ciaran’s Peregrini in support of the great work they are doing in Zambia. Our solicitor’s will complete your Will free of charge and there will be an optional donation which is completely at your own discretion. Our experienced Wills and Probate solicitors offer expert will writing services which will help to protect your interests and ensure that your family and loved ones are provided for. We understand that making a will can seem like a daunting task, particularly if you are a young adult. However, with the help of our Wills and Probate team it can be a straight forward and pain free process.
Our solicitors will help to ensure that your estate is protected and will provide you with advice on inheritance tax planning, protective trusts, estate administration and lasting powers of attorney. Our goal is to ensure that the beneficiaries in your will get what you intended. We will provide guidance on how to minimise the impact of inheritance tax. For example, transfers of money between spouses and civil partners and gifts from charity are both exempt from inheritance tax.
Ultimately, making your will early is a vital safety net for your family and loved ones and will give you peace of mind. At the same time, you will be able to support a local charity who are doing excellent work in Zambia to improve the lives of those living in poverty.
